The former site of the World Trade Center, Ground Zero allows visitors the opportunity to commemorate the victims, survivors and brave heroes of the September 11, 2001 attacks and the February 1993 WTC bombing. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum opened in September 2011 and contains two reflecting pools with the biggest man made waterfalls in North America in the spot where each Twin Tower stood. The name of each person who died in the 2001 and 1993 tragedies are engraved on bronze panels around the pools. The site was designed by architects Michael Arad and Peter Walker. The memorial museum has 110,000 square feet of exhibits preserving 9/11 history including 23,000 images, 10,300 artifacts, 2,100 documents and 1,970 oral histories.
