Located around 192 miles (300 km) from Bogota, the historic town of San Gilis known for its outdoor adventure activities. White-water rafting is popular in the area, but extreme-sports enthusiasts also come here for kayaking, trekking, rappelling, paragliding, and caving. The 300-year old town square comes alive at night and houses the town’s main cathedral, first built in 1791. Also located in town is Parque El Gallineral, famous for its moss-covered trees. Located just outside the town is the spectacular Cascadas de Juan Curi, a 591-foot (180 m) high waterfall.
