This landscaped 8,000 square-foot indoor village and railroad contains more than 300 miniature structures, 4,000 pint-sized people and animations presenting a 200-year history of the rural United States. Roadside America was first constructed by Laurence Gieringer as a smaller version in 1935 in his home and continued to grow as word spread making the site more popular to be housed in its current Shartlesville, Pennsylvania location in 1953. It also has a Pennsylvania Dutch Gift Haus selling handmade crafts and unique merchandise.
