About Plaza Catalunya

The Spanish public square contains so much to see from sculptures to fountains to underground mosaic murals and is the intersections several of Barcelona's main streets. Plaza Catalunya, translated in English to mean Catalonia Square, is surrounded by restaurants, cafes, theaters and stores. Notable sculptures are La Deessa, Monument a Francesc Macià and Pastor de Pau. The square which is frequented by pigeons began being developed in the early 19th Century.
