For a crash course in the events that led up to the Boston Tea Party, make haste to the Old South Meeting House in Downtown Crossing. For a small admission fee you will gain access to the upper level above the dais. Behind the pews you will find exhibits on the history of the Meeting House: In 1773, 5,000 people convened here to discuss British taxation (without representation), inciting one group to destroy an entire shipment of tea from the British East India Company. Don't miss the Boston Tea Party Reenactment held every year on December 16 to commemorate the meeting that sparked a revolution.
