Discover the Best Oatman Tours

Referred to as a "Living Ghost Town," this Arizona town in the Black Mountains began as a tent camp when gold was discovered there in 1902 and was the site of a multi-million dollar gold discovery in 1915 bringing more than 3,500 people over the next year. Oatman decreased in population after that to its current number of nearly 130 people. It was named after Olive Oatman, a Illinois girl who was captured by the Yavapai Native Americans and forced to work as a slave before being rescued and adopted by the Mohave Native Americans. Today, the town has many historical buildings, Old West gun fight re-enactments and wild burros.
