Technically two museums, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes was founded in 1913 and expanded into the dual museums, the Palace of Fine Arts and the Palace of the Asturian Center. The Palace of Fine Arts houses Cuban Art Collections from the early periods of colonialism to the pop and modern art of present day Cuba. The Palace of the Asturian Center, also known as the International Museum of Art, was built in 1927 to feature various European paintings - largely Spanish - and ancient ceramic artwork from such places as Greece and Rome.
