The Royal Chapel was built for Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand V of Aragon as their final resting place. Constructed from 1505 through 1517 on the remains of a mosque, it is now the resting place of many royals, and there are statues of them carved in the chapel. The Granada Cathedral began construction in 1523 in the same Gothic style as the Royal Chapel. However, another architect took over the project and it is now a Renaissance structure on a Gothic foundation. Its upper stained glass windows, stunning interior and remarkable facades make it a must-see in Granada.
