Fort Myers is the commercial and historical center of Lee County, Florida. Fort Myers was established in 1886 and was one of the first forts built along the Caloosahatchee River. It is mostly known for being the home of the Edison and Ford Winter Estates, which were the winter homes of inventor Thomas Edison and industrialist Henry Ford.
