The Village People music group sing "Take a walk down Duval Street, you never know who you'll meet" in its song "Key West." The mile-long downtown street that runs from the coast of the Gulf of Mexico to the coast of the Atlantic Ocean is lined with boutiques, markets, restaurants, cafes, bars, museums, art galleries, cigar shops, quaint bungalows and Victorian mansions. Tourist hot spots are The Cowboy Bills Bar, Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, Sloppy Joe's, The Oldest House, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, The Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory, Gingerbread Square Gallery and San Carlos Institute. Six blocks of Duval Street are on the U.S. Register of Historic Places.
