Discover the Best Devil S Gate Tours

This rock gorge along the Sweetwater River was another marker along the emigrant trails for those heading west and has the name of many passers-by engraved in it, like nearby Independence Rock. Devil's Gate is located between the Wyoming cities of Casper and Muddy Gap and is approximately 1,500 feet long and 370 feet deep. Some believe the site got its name because Shoshone and Arapaho Native Americans believed the site was cursed and a giant tusked beast made the fissure.
