Experience Derry Day Trips & Sightseeing Tours

Although this city was once plagued by sectarian violence, its 17th-century city walls have never been breached and today form a walkway around the inner city. Derry, the only remaining completely walled city in Ireland, was the site of the Battle of the Bogside, a riot that occurred between police and Irish nationalists seen as one of the first major confrontations in “the Troubles,” as well as infamous Bloody Sunday when peaceful, unarmed protesters were fired on by British soldiers. The Museum of Free Derry and a granite obelisk commemorating 14 civilians who were shot dead on Bloody Sunday are located in the Bogside.
