Mexico City - Cuernacava - Taxco

Take a full-day excursion to Cuernavaca and Taxco to see a completely different side of Mexico.

First stop is Cuernavaca, or City of the Eternal Spring, whose temperate climate has made it a popular retreat since the Aztecs for royalty and the elite, and more recently, for those seeking fine dining and a good spa treatment far away from the hustle and bustle of Mexico City.

In Cuernavaca you will take a look to the Cathedral, which is the seat of the Catholic diocese of the same name in Mexico. It’s a building of the sixteenth century, which makes it one of the oldest cathedrals in the whole country. Our sightseeing tour includes the Palacio de Cortés, which building was ordered by Hernán Cortés in the immediate years of Mexico conquest. And finally the monument to Morelos, military insurgent and Mexican patriot, who organized and was the architect of the second stage of the War of Independence in Mexico.

Later, this tour will head to Taxco, a colonial city with hundreds of years of history. The city is nestled on a hillside with winding cobblestone streets, tile roofed buildings, cozy squares and a strong Old World ambiance that has survived through hundreds of years. Visit one of Mexico's most magnificent churches, Santa Prisca, built in 1759 by French immigrant Jose de la Borda.

Taxco is known the world over for its quality silver mines and shops showcasing silver pieces wrought by distinguished local craftsmen.

    Taxco & Cuernavaca

I did this tour in April of 2017, we had a few hiccups with our bus and got off to a little bit of a late start. Everything was great after that though. The tour guide and driver were both bilingual and extremely friendly. Cuernavaca was be...autiful, word of advice the museum is closed on Monday but that means more time in Taxco! Once we got to Taxco we did a small tour of a reproduction silver mine. The “mine” was a little cheesy but the silver jewelry they sold there was amazing. The group had lunch at great restaurant with an amazing view. After lunch we walked to the city square and toured the Cathedral. The guides were very respectful of the funeral service that was taking place when we got to the cathedral. Overall the I was very happy with the tour and the guides, they were friendly knowledgeable and balanced guided time and setting us free to wonder the city. Read full review
