well the west coast didn't disappoint, we started in LA and although the weather was against us for most of the first week we made the most if it. The group was made up of 11 of us. 7 guys and 4 girls and then our tour leader rob.
We had ..amazing hikes in the national parks. Getting to go to Alcatraz was great too.
As a group we all worked well together and we had such a laugh. It was an experience I will never forget and I have defiantly made friends for life.
This trek was great for smaller driving days and spending two days in most of the parks which was defiantly beneficial to, as we could see lots of things.
It was colder than expected especially at night so having a thick sleeping bag was great though we did have Walmart stops to buy more blankets.
My most memorable night was when a storm hit in lake Powell and we had to abandon our tents for the night and sleep in the bunkhouse, it was such a fun and unexpected turn. We had all eaten our steak dinners and were full, then only to go running around in the dark, wind and rain to save our things and tents.
The group were all quite into taking pictures which worked well as now we can remember it forever!!Read full review
This trip truly is the best way to see a good mix of National Parks and cities in western USA. I was slightly worried as I had never been camping before, but it was absolutely fine. You get used to setting up camp, cooking together and how ..everything is packed away really quickly. I went in August/September, bought a sleeping bag from Walmart for $15 and I was never really cold apart from maybe one night. You might want two use sleeping mats however or bring your own! One of the best nights was the campsite in Monument Valley, where we had the most incredible view, not to mention the clearest starry sky and best sunrise I've ever seen!
I would never have been able to visit all the National Parks on my own as easily as I did with Trek America, as everything is just sorted for you. That was one of the best things, as we would arrive somewhere and then our tour leader would explain what the best things to do were, answered any questions and then we were free to explore. Everything was hassle free and was such an easy way to travel. Expect a lot of driving, but it's the only way to cover so many places and we often just fell asleep in the van!
I'm not a very active person and found the hiking challenging but definitely achievable - climbing to the top of Angel's Landing in Zion was such a personal achievement. You can go at your own place and just admire your amazing surroundings. San Francisco and Las Vegas were the best cities and Yosemite's scenery just blew my mind. Also the night spent at the cowboy camp where I did horse riding the next day was a lot of fun too.
My tour leader was just the best at helping us bond as a group and giving us a load of insider information and took care of so much for us. If you want to see both iconic cities and explore National Parks, then book this trip, it will be the best decision you've ever made - you'll see and do much in such a short amount of time.Read full review

This trek was absolutely amazing! We got ucky that we had such a great group of people, we all got on together and I now have friends for life.
Out tour guide Craig was outstanding and definitely went out of his way to make this experience.. special for everyone, as in he accommodated different activities by giving tips/ advice etc.
It was the best 2 weeks of my life and has made Me want to keep on travelling.
Would highly recommend. Food was excellent, transport and the tents we slept in were so clean. Couldn't ask for anything else.
Everywhere we went there was a new high, LA was meeting everyone, San Diego was the comedy piano bar, Lake Havasu was camping under the stars, Grand Canyon was watching the sunset while eating pizza, Las Vegas was the Calvin Harris pool party, Yosemite was the most amazing hikes and climbing the rocks and the smell, it smelled so good, San Francisco was the whole city and alcatraz and Santa Barbara was the views! So much love and appreciation for this whole experience. Read full review
From the beginning on I knew we would have a great time together! Our leader Dano was from the area and knew where to go to get a full experience in the cities.
We chilled on sunny beaches, slept under the stars, swam the Colorado river,.. hiked the Grand Canyon and Yosemite, partied in Vegas and San Francisco. I could go on for hours telling what we did. It was amazing!
In San Francisco we got a tour by Urban Adventures, which was very well organized and the guide was a helpful and clear guy that showed us around chinatown, little italy and the nort beach area.
The group was great, we got to know each other very fast and forged some friendships for the rest of our lives!
Despite not being able Death Valley due to extreme heath, I still think I've visited all the highlights on the West Coast.
Certainly looking forward to booking my next trek!Read full review
The entire trip was an amazing adventure! Everything from making smore's around the campfire to hiking the Grand Canyon, everything was very well planned, and our tour guide made sure everyone was having a blast! I am so glad that I decided.. to do this trip, and it was much better and I could ever have imagined :-) We were nine people on my trip from all over the world, and everyone was so nice and made the trip even better!!Read full review
Was so nervous to do this trek and to meet everyone but the people on my tour were lovely and we became like a family.
My trek leader was Mark Page. He was the best trek leader we could have hoped for! Mark always went the extra mile for ..everyone and made everything run so smoothly.
I thought the trek would be rushed and we wouldn't get to see enough of the places that we visited but we did! The time spend in each place is more than enough and you get to see so many amazing things.Read full review
I have traveled quite extensively but can honestly say this was the best trip I have done. I was conscious of being slightly older (27 at the time) but it made no difference, the group instantly got along.
The actual tour was amazing- the ..Grand Canyon and Arches National Park were amazing but the balance with cities was great to.
Cannot recommend Trek or this tour enough!

From partying in Vegas to enjoying the serenity and natural beauty of Yosemite national park, this trek provided an amazing and intense opportunity to see and experience some fantastic sights of western America! A particular highlight was o..ur group's first night, getting to know everyone while swimming in the Colorado river and sleeping under the stars! Our tour leader, Ashley, did an amazing job and was really knowledgeable about all the parks and cities we visited and definitely went the extra mile to make this trek special! Definitely would recommend if you only have a short time for trek. :)Read full review

There’s something rather special about waking up beside the Colorado River. The clear moonlit sky reflects seamlessly against the water and just for a moment you think you’re dreaming. In that moment you grab your phone and start snappi..ng. Desperately trying to capture it, to post it, to share it. Then you realise. There’s a 11 other people doing exactly the same. This was my first time with Trek America - it won’t be my last. Despite not being on a gap year or even the same age as many of my group - sharing those moments was just breathtaking. It was a holiday. It was an experience. But more than that, it was a privilege.Read full review
100% Best experience of my life and met friends for life

I was so apprehensive about doing a trek america trip.. I couldn't decide whether to do it... the main issue being was I'd never flown by myself let alone fly to the other side of America. I booked 7 weeks before and I'm glad I did as soon ..as we set off from San Francisco everyone instantly clicked.. it was like we'd known each other for years. Honestly can say it was the best experience of my life. Vegas was just unforgettable especially as it was Halloween, having S'mores round the camp fire.. the campfire itself everything was just incredible. I know it sounds still but I really enjoyed being in the van.. listening to music and looking out the window. And the Grand Canyon, what an experience especially the sunset just incredible. You feel so care free and its the best feeling. Helen our trek leader was also incredible... we didn't have to cook once as she made us lovely meals. Already planning my next trek.Read full review
I still think about this holiday nearly 10 years on... and have only just booked my next one with Trek America! I have so many fond memories... I went out there on my own, and came back with a load of new friends, who I STILL keep in touch ..with. Our tour guide was brilliant. Let's hope the next one is just as good, because I don't think much could beat it!Read full review
