Book Early

Due to availability, we highly advice booking your Inca Trail tour early to ensure you get a place on the tour. While the Inca Trail is one of the famous and popular routes to Machu Picchu, there are other options available. Consider booking the Salkantay Trek, a less crowded but just as stunning route to Machu Picchu, or taking a Machu Picchu tour by bus or train for a more comfortable journey.

Purgative Waters in Cusco

Hotel: Local Hotel or similar

Welcome to Cusco! Our first meeting will be at 10am one day before the amazonian vine retreat. You will begin the cleansing therapy by drinking purgative water, a part of your physical preparation. Remember to fast beforehand in preparation for this. This part will be performed by our specially trained staff, who will supervise the purging that accompanies the medicinal water. We’ll start the 1-2 hour purging process at 11am so that you can have the afternoon free to rest and find something light to eat.

*We recommend arriving in Cusco or the Sacred Valley at least one day beforehand to acclimatize. Before you arrive in Cusco, we can organize pickup and accommodation for this acclimatization day.

Day 02
Sacred Valley

Cusco – Retreat Center in the Sacred Valley (Taray)

Hotel: Retreat Center or similar

We’ll pick you up at your hotel at 10am and travel to our retreat house in the Sacred Valley an hour outside of Cusco. Once we have arrived, our Andean shaman will lead us in a coca leaf ceremony, of great importance to our Inca ancestors.

To receive the most benefit from the amazonian vine ceremony to come, it is best to come prepared with questions and topics to consider concerning your life, your family, your health and relationships, etc. The most productive amazonian vine sessions are those with participants who know why they are there. You’ll have some time to talk one-on-one to the psychologist and the doctor. Afterwards, we’ll discuss the ceremony start time, the rules within the retreat house, and other necessary items. Once finished, you’ll have an hour to rest and meditate, being sure to maintain a noble silence* (see bottom).

After this rest, the shaman will explain the Andean ceremonies. This is the time to ask any questions about the ceremony and explain any personal purpose you may have for being there. You will next begin the Cleansing and Growth ceremony, after which you will rest and contemplate for another few hours, again maintaining a noble silence*. This time should be used to focus on what you wish to accomplish during the night’s amazonian vine ceremony. We suggest that you use this time to meditate or, if you believe in the power of prayer, to pray. This is important to ensure that you have enough energy and clarity for the ceremony. Our amazonian vine shaman will begin the ceremony at 7 or 8pm, with a translator and nurses in attendance for your safety.

Day 04
Pisac

Sacred Valley Retreat Center – Ollantaytambo

Hotel: Local Hotel or similar

We’ll have another nourishing breakfast to restore us from last night’s work, and the ayahuasca shamans will again help us process our visions and experiences. To conclude our time at the center, an Andean Qero shaman will lead us through the most important ceremony, the Despacho, or offering to the Earth Mother. This will allow you to show your gratitude to her while basking in the warm, post-ayahuasca glow of internal and external harmony. On this happy note, we will end our retreat.

A visit to the Sacred Valley now awaits us; we will see the Inca ruins of Pisac (admission not included) in order to appreciate and understand both the local religious customs and impressive ancient architecture. Later, we will head to Ollantaytambo to see the ruins there as well (admission not included).

We will spend the night in Ollantaytambo.

This consists of an agricultural sector with numerous terraces, plus religious and urban centers. On the way up, we’ll take in magnificent views of the Urubamba River Valley, the Choquesuysuy archaeological complex on the opposite side of the river, and a beautiful waterfall minutes away from Wiñaywayna. Special Notes
  • We will meet at Recoleta Street 674 at 10am.
  • We require that all our participants bring a note signed by their home doctor verifying that they are physically fit to drink ayahuasca. We use extensive medical precautions and monitoring to guarantee your physical and emotional safety:
    ● Small groups of up to 10 people maximum. This allows us to maximize safety and comfort and to provide personalized attention to each of our guests. (Different parties of people may overlap during the ayahuasca retreat, but to ensure safety there will never be more than 10 participants for any given Ayahuasca ceremony.)
    ● Physical and psychological health questionnaire to evaluate risk factors. A doctor, psychologist and nurse are in charge of verifying medical records and detecting any medical contraindications a person may have with ayahuasca before the booking stage.
    ● Basic medical evaluation to ensure physical suitability a day before the start of the retreat.
    ● A doctor available at the retreat site during the day to help with any specific physical issues.
    ● A nurse experienced in emergency medical care will be present during the ayahuasca ceremony and monitors guests throughout the night to ensure their comfort and wellbeing.
    ● After the ceremony but before going to bed, a nurse will conduct a physical checkup to ensure that guests are calm and healthy after returning from their ayahuasca journey.
    ● A psychologist, together with the shaman, helps guests to interpret their ayahuasca experiences on an individual basis. Consultations are available before and after the ayahuasca ceremonies.
    ● The psychologist will make a follow up call to each guest one to two weeks post retreat.
  • You are required to arrive a day before your retreat to detoxify your system with medicinal volcanic spring water. This water is volcanic mineral water from the Quisach’ata Volcano, located in the highlands to the south of Cusco near the ruins of Raqchi and the city of Sicuani. The water is transparent at its origin but picks up a yellowish color along its route.‏
  • Drinking it has a purgative effect of removing all toxins from your system. Afterwards, your body will be physically prepared for your ayahuasca ceremony, thereby reducing the chance of ayahuasca interacting with any substances (medication, alcohol, drugs, supplements, etc) that may be in your system. This purge process can also help to purify your system of harmful substances that have accumulated in your body’s cells over the years. We will meet at Recoleta Street674 at 10am and then travel to drink the purgative water. The process takes approximately 3 hours, and you are required to be fasting for 3-4 hours before the process begins. After the purge, you can eat and resume your regular activities under the restrictions listed in the categories below.
  • The day the medicinal water is taken allows guests time to acclimatize to the high altitude of Cusco. As part of the preparations, a nurse will conduct a basic medical examination to assess your suitability for ayahuasca. The nurse measures heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, respiration rate, as well as conducting a general physical examination.
  • To get the Inka Trail entrance fee is necessary to assure the booking with 3 or 4 months in advance.
