Perito Moreno Glacier

Perito Moreno Glacier Ice Trek

Hotel: Roble Sur or similar

After having breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up in the morning for a trip of almost 90 minutes to the Los Glaciares National Park.

As soon as getting off the bus, you will be able to see the magnitude of Perito Moreno glacier but the real experience begins at the “Bajo de las sombras” port from where you will take a boat to cross the Rico Arm of the Argentino Lake to land 10 minutes later on the west coast.

You will cross a part of forest and the mountain as your guides lead you even closer to the glacier to put crampons on your shoes and to start the hike. The trail runs along the southern moraine of the Perito Moreno glacier, and in just over an hour you will arrive at a spectacular viewpoint, where you will go into the ice. Once on the glacier, the world takes on a new perspective: blue lagoons, deep cracks, enormous sinkholes, magical caves, and the unique feeling of being in the center of the glacier.

All along the excursion, you will always be accompanied and instructed by expert guides who will explore with you for three and a half hours (approx) the corners of the most special glacier in the world. During the tour, the guides will help you to understand the patterns of the ice and its surroundings.

In addition, you will have half an hour for lunch on the white ice and to contemplate a place of incomparable beauty.

Once back on the moraine, you will walk another hour to go back the boat. Then, on the way back to shore, the boat will sail very close to the south wall of the glacier before returning to port, after having enjoyed one of the most spectacular treks in the ice world.

The tour includes half hour to walk on the catwalks that are in front of the glacier.

Full Day Adventure Trekking At El Chalten From El Calafate

Hotel: Roble Sur or similar

This is an exclusive expedition that starts at 7:30am from Calafate. After pick up at your hotel, we will take the mythical Route 40 bordering the Argentino Lake, and crossing the Santa Cruz River.

Here our guide will tell us about Darwin's experiences with Fitz Roy who navigate the river. Then we will continue to the Rio La Leona, where will drive along its canyon. After 75 minutes, we will get to the old hotel Paso La Leona (almost a museum of Route 40), where we can have coffee with homemade cakes.

We will continue along Lake Viedma with the Andes Mountains range on the background. Before reaching the town we'll stop at the viewpoint of Viedma Glacier from where you can appreciate a beautiful view of the glacier, Cordillera and emblematic Cerro Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. We will arrive to the mountain village of El Chalten after 3 hours of travel and 220 kms. After the Park Ranger welcome us, we will continue to where we can star the self-guided hiking trails that run from El Chalten and that lead us to the most wonderful viewpoints of the Cerro Fitz Roy or Cerro Torre.

Our trekking guide will advise us about the various options according to our physical state and he will deliver maps of the enabled trails. For lunch, we will carry a box lunch in our backpack so we can enjoy it in the middle of the road. If we are not sure if we are able to hike the paths on our own, we do not need to worry. The guide will follow one of the trails so we can accompany him. We will descend towards El Chalten at 6 pm where the group will meet at a point previously defined.
