But before we depart we'll get a taste of Hollywood where you'll find the famous sign and Walk of Fame, cruising down Hollywood Boulevard.
Then we'll leave the glitz and glam of LA behind and head to the coast. First up is Santa Barbara, a gem of a coastal city with a decidedly Spanish flair with miles of pristine sandy beaches, this is a great introduction to the incredible Californian Coast.
Summary of The Day: With each passing mile on California's most famous road, the Pacific Coast Highway, the coastline grows yet more spectacular. Redwood forested mountains lean down towards beautiful sandy beaches and the pounding Pacific swell.
Follow the coastal path to one of the most iconic scenes of Big Sur, McWay Falls - a stunning 80 ft. waterfall that cascades directly onto its own private beach. With such amazing scenery and tons of wildlife, including sea lions and whales, it's no surprise that people say this is one of the best stretches of road on the West Coast and we couldn't agree more!
Summary of The Day: As you say `so long' to the ocean for a couple of days you head towards the snowy peaks of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and the towering peaks of Yosemite National Park. You'll have two days to hike, bike, or float through this extraordinary landscape of glacier-carved granite monoliths, spectacular waterfalls and groves of Giant Sequoia trees.
Summary of The Day: Make the most of the great selection of hiking trails suitable for all levels of fitness and be sure to keep your eyes peeled for bear and coyotes roaming the trails. After a morning of hiking why not explore Yosemite Village with its museum, art galleries and short walking trails?

Start with a walk across Golden Gate Bridge and a visit to Haight-Ashbury, a street oozing with hippy vibes and plenty of quirky shops and cafes. Head down to Pier 39 to see the resident sea lions who flock there in their hundreds - you'll definitely hear them before you see them! Seafood is aplenty here, so make sure you sample a delicious crab roll at Fisherman's Wharf.

As you explore more of the park you might start to recognise the canyons covered in fern and moss from Steven Spielberg's Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World. Don't worry though, the dinosaurs are long gone!
Summary of The Day: The fact that you'll see the slogan 'Keep Portland Weird' plastered everywhere makes this uber-cool city even more intriguing. A city full of quirky cafes, cool hipster folk and the best doughnut shop a person could ask for, Voodoo Doughnuts - whether it's for breakfast or just for a cheeky snack, just do it! For the healthier option check out some of the numerous farmers markets that seem to pop up everywhere. Oh, and let's not forget about the beer! With over 30 breweries dotted across the city you'll never go thirsty in Portland.

Summary of The Day: Journey into the heart of the Cascade Mountains to Mount Rainier National Park; the range and it's epic hiking trails sure live up to the hype. There are over 300 miles available on the parks' network of trails, with everything from easy walks through the forest to heart pounding climbs up to the mountain's glaciers. Mount Rainier is the perfect introduction to the lush and vibrant landscape of Washington State.
Summary of The Day: Get ready to roll with a blast of fresh air adventure amidst dense old-growth rainforest and ancient glaciers. Washington's jewel, Olympic National Park, offers a wide range of vistas including glacier carved valleys, snowy peaks, spectacular coastal beaches and an ancient rainforest to explore and enjoy.
Included is an afternoon kayak on Lake Crescent amongst forest-covered mountains and water so clear it's tough not to dive in. If sore feet deserve a little TLC, let Sol Duc Hot Springs do the honours. Soak it up!

Summary of The Day: Leaving the mountains of the Olympic Peninsula behind you journey across Puget Sound aboard the ferry from Bainbridge Island to Seattle. Why not whisk yourself 500 ft. up the Space Needle, taking in the spectacular setting from a glass elevator? If you prefer to explore at ground level then get yourself to Pike Place Market and watch as the famous fish mongers throw fish to each other while you grab yourself a bowl of tasty clam chowder. Seattle is another awesome Pacific Coast city and you'll definitely be well and truly spoilt on this road trip.
