Day 02

Hotel: Scandic St. Olavs Plass or similar

This morning, enjoy a city tour of Oslo. Pass the National Theater, the 19th Century Royal Palace and visit the main square to view the Cathedral. Next, visit the Vigeland Sculpture Park, designed by Gustav Vigeland. The park contains 192 sculptures with more than 600 figures. The park's most popular attraction is the Monolith column, measuring 46 feet high, it is carved from a single block of granite and took three stone sculptors 14 years (1929-43) to complete. Continue to the modern City Hall to conclude the tour. Rest of the day is at leisure, or perhaps take the optional Treasures of Oslo tour, to the Viking Ship Museum and Kon-Tiki Museum (own expense).

Breakfast is included.
Day 03

Oslo - Kirkenes

Hotel: MS Nordnorge inside cabin / MS Nordkapp inside cabin / MS Nordlys inside cabin / MS Polarlys inside cabin or similar

A short flight takes us to Kirkenes, a small town near the Russian border. Known as the capital of the Barents region and the Gateway to the East, people here speak Norwegian, Sami, Finnish and Russian. We'll continue to the port to board the Hurtigruten cruise ship. After check-in and boarding, it's time to freshen up and get ready for lunch as we begin our five-day cruise southward. Join an enlightening presentation before docking in Vardo, Norway's easternmost port. Later, dinner together with your Tour Manager sets the mood for an amazing voyage through Norway's most spectacular waterways.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.

Day 04

Hammerfest - Tromso

Hotel: MS Nordnorge inside cabin / MS Nordkapp inside cabin / MS Nordlys inside cabin / MS Polarlys inside cabin or similar

In the morning the ship docks in Hammerfest, the world's northernmost town. Despite its remote location, Hammerfest was the first Norwegian town to have electric street lighting and its own power station. A well-protected harbor has been the cornerstone of the town's growth: a booming fishing industry that competes with some of Norway's major ports. Just before midnight, the ship docks in Tromso, one of the best places in Norway to view the Northern Lights, weather permitting. Tonight's dinner on board the cruise ship puts the finishing touch on a truly splendid day.

Day 05

Vesteralen Islands - Lofoten Islands

Hotel: MS Nordnorge inside cabin / MS Nordkapp inside cabin / MS Nordlys inside cabin / MS Polarlys inside cabin or similar

The highlight of the Hurtigruten cruise is the voyage through the magnificent Lofoten and Vesteralen islands. Warmed by the gulf stream, this collection of Arctic islands off the northwest coast of Norway are renowned for their spectacular natural beauty: steep jagged mountain peaks, stark wilderness, white sand beaches, and picturesque fishing villages. Observe how the ship deftly navigates through a network of inlets before arriving at Svolvaer, the quaint capital of Lofoten Islands, easily identified by the towering Svolværgeita Mountains in the background. There you will have time to discover the fishing village and take in the Bohemian atmosphere. Reflect on the day's surreal beauty during dinner together back on board the ship.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 06

Helgeland Coast - Arctic Circle - Bronnoysund - Seven Sisters

Hotel: MS Nordnorge inside cabin / MS Nordkapp inside cabin / MS Nordlys inside cabin / MS Polarlys inside cabin or similar

Awake to an exceptional day filled with spectacular scenery! As you cruise along the magical Helgeland Coast, vistas of thousands of islets, fertile farmlands and steep granite walls encircle you. Cross the Arctic Circle and pass the idyllic island of Sandnessjoen. On the approach to Bronnoysund, view the mythical Seven Sisters. Apart from the sheer beauty of the mountains and their waterfalls, the myth about the beautiful seven sisters tells how these female trolls were turned to stone, now captivating sailors as they pass by.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 07

Trondheim - Munkholmen - Hitra - Molde

Hotel: MS Nordnorge inside cabin / MS Nordkapp inside cabin / MS Nordlys inside cabin / MS Polarlys inside cabin or similar

In the morning the cruise ship will dock in ancient Trondheim, Norway's oldest city and first capital, its colorful history illustrated by handsome architecture. Known as the historical, religious, and technological capital of Norway, Trondheim is dominated by the University of Science and Technology. Perhaps stop at the towering Nidaros Cathedral, built over the burial place of St. Olav, the country's patron saint; or the Archbishop's Palace, one of the most well-preserved complexes of its kind in Europe. Or take a stroll to Old Town Bridge with its ornamental red portals. A symbol of the city for over 300 years, the bridge connects the city center with Bakklandet, a charming neighborhood with inviting restaurants and boutiques. You may choose to spend time at a local cafe before returning to the ship. Later the cruise ship passes the islands of Munkholmen, Hitra, and thousands of islets before crossing the open sea in the direction of Molde.

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 08

Hotel: First Hotel Marin or similar

Savor the glorious scenery this morning before your cruise docks in Bergen, the picturesque harbor town established by the Viking King Olav more than 900 years ago. Today, Bergen is known as the unofficial capital of Western Norway, and the world's only city surrounded by seven mountains and seven fjords. After disembarkation, transfer to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day exploring Bergen at your own pace. You may opt to visit the Bergen Museum, the world-famous fish market, or stroll around the brightly-colored old wooden buildings at Bryggen Wharf, a remnant of the Hanseatic port, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Breakfast is included.
