The City of Los Angeles is the seat of Los Angeles County, which includes most of the Los Angeles-Long Beach metropolitan area. In turn, Los Angeles County is at the heart of the Los Angeles-Riverside-Orange County Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area (CMSA), a vast metropolitan region that stretches from the Pacific Ocean in the west to the San Gabriel Mountains in the north to the Mohave Desert in the east and to the San Diego Metropolitan Statistical Area in the south. In many respects the Los Angeles region is highly centralized around its core, the City of Los Angeles. In other respects, Los Angeles is very dispersed and fragmented, often described as "100 suburbs in search of a city."
This observation is especially true of the residential and commercial districts. Although outlying cities once may have been considered suburbs of the City of Los Angeles today the metropolitan area consists of literally hundreds of central business districts, each surrounded by suburb-like rings, which fade again into adjacent downtowns. Even within the City of Los Angeles proper there are several distinct central business districts marked by clusters of skyscrapers. One of the things that makes the City of Hollywood stand out among its South Florida neighbors is its appreciation for yesterday. Most municipalities are determined to erase their past as they rush into the future. But Hollywood is capitalizing on its rich history, redeveloping its beach and downtown areas.
Historic postcards, for example, provided the inspiration for new balustrades and control towers on the Hollywood Boulevard Bridge. Portions of downtown Hollywood are on the National Register of Historic Places, and the beach's bandshell and handball courts are among the landmarks the city has protected. Those landmarks, as well as the beach, parks and other natural attractions that made Hollywood a destination in the first place, will remain at the heart of any future development.
You may find many exciting rides and water play in Universal Studios Hollywood. For example, Back to the Future - A simulator-based ride chasing Biff, this ride is very rough and nausea-inducing if you're sensitive. Jurassic Park is an indoor/outdoor ride that drops you down an 80-foot waterfall. Getting wet Guaranteed. Nickelodeon Blast Zone is a playground-full of Nickelodeon characters also includes some interactive water effects. Revenge of the Mummy - This indoor roller coaster goes forward and backward in the dark. Disneyland Park is divided into eight "lands" - Adventure land, Critter Country, Frontier land, Tomorrow land and so on.
Combine the magic of Disney with the best that California has to offer and the result is Disneyland California Adventure, a theme park that celebrates the Golden State in style. Once you enter the gates of Disney California Adventure, you are transported to the land of promise, opportunity and glamour. Disneyland California Adventure Park is a journey from the California of yesterday to today. Disneyland California Adventure is a tribute to this land of dreams. Its larger than life images and icons seem to be plucked from a Hollywood blockbuster.
