Summary of The Day: Welcome to Copenhagen!
From this great city we'll begin our scenic tour through Scandinavia! Day 1 is free for you to arrive at the start hotel. Between 2:00pm and 5:00pm your tour leader will be waiting for you at the hotel to welcome you and your fellow travelers.
Once you've checked into your room, we'll head out for an included dinner to meet your fellow travelers and enjoy a brief overview of your journey by the tour guide.
Summary of The Day: Following breakfast at the hotel we'll begin our first day of sightseeing with a guided tour of Copenhagen, the lovely Danish capital, visiting the Nyhavn waterfront, Rosenborg Castle, and the famous Little Mermaid Statue.
In the afternoon, you'll be free to explore the city on your own. Take a trip to the lively Tivoli Gardens, a famous amusement park in Denmark, or visit the Rundetaarn observatory to witness the finest views of the city.
Summary of The Day: Today we'll begin our journey through the Denmark countryside, a lovely landscape that is not to be missed!
First up is a drive to Odense, a charming village where Hans Christian Andersen, world famous Danish fairy tale author, lived. From here we'll journey to Denmark's northernmost town, Skagen, and explore the enchanting peninsula that shares its name. Walk along the tip of the Grenen sandbar and enjoy lovely views of the sea.
We'll end the day as we head to Frederikshavn, our home for the evening, where we'll enjoy a delicious dinner at the hotel.
Summary of The Day: Three countries in one day! From Frederikshavn we'll take a ferry to Gothenburg, a major city in Sweden, before continuing onward to Oslo.
Upon arrival at the Norwegian capital, we'll introduce ourselves to the city with a local guide and walking tour to the Akershus Castle, Oslo Opera House, the Parliament Building and the Royal Palace.
Summary of The Day: From Oslo we'll head out to Norway's west coast, cutting through the heart of Norway. Watch as the landscape transforms from emerald green fields to icy blue fjords and finally snow enshrouded mountains
By evening we'll arrive in Bergen, the City of the Seven Mountains. The second largest city in Norway and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bergen is the perfect gateway to Norway's famous fjords. Our orientation walk here we'll show you the highlights of Norway's ancient capital and the former home of the royal family. Along the way keep your camera ready for visits to the Hanseatic Wharf Bryggen and the Bergen Fortress.
Summary of The Day: We have a few optional excursions in and around the city for you to join (own expense) or you can get to know Bergen on your own with a free day in this amazing Norwegian city.
Feel free to ride up the Fløibanen funicular to the top of Mount Fløyen, which offers magnificent views of Bergen and a variety of walking routes. Or take a half-day tour to Skjerjehamn, where you'll enjoy a four hour sailing from Bergen and see the incredible maelstroms (whirlpools).
Summary of The Day: With more than a thousand fjords in Norway there's plenty for us to explore, especially here on the west coast. From Bergen we'll head out through Norway's gorgeous heartland on our way to Lillehammer, stopping off in Gudvangen, which rests on the end of the Nærøyfjord, Norway’s most famous fjord.
Here you can join an optional cruise along the Nærøyfjord and Aurlandsfjorden to Flam. Keep your camera out to capture pristine images of still blue water framed by towering cliffs, massive waterfalls and snow capped peaks - the easiest picture-postcard photo’s you will ever take.
Summary of The Day: Bid farewell to Sweden as we cross the border and witness stunning landscapes open up to us as we take a scenic drive into the Dalarna region, passing by towering mountains and enchanting forests - keep your camera ready for the local wildlife.
Our journey we'll lead us into Central Sweden and Dalarna, which is famous for the Dalecarlian horse, a brightly colored Swedish hand-painted wooden horse.
Summary of The Day: Today we'll arrive in Stockholm, Sweden's historic capital and and dazzling city that entrances all who visit it. We'll discover its amazing attractions with a walking tour to the Royal Palace, Marten Trotzigs Grand - otherwise known as the narrowest alleyway in the city - and the AF Chapman Ship, a full-rigged steel ship built in 1888 that rests in central Stockholm.
Summary of The Day: Stockholm is a truly stunning city with so much to do and see, so get out there and explore all it has to offer! Take a stroll through Gamla Stan, the old town which is full of warm colored buildings of red and orange. Or explore the numerous islands of the Stockholm canals, including Djurgården which is full of lovely monuments, museums, galleries, the amusement park Grona Lund, and the open-air Swedish history museum.
Summary of The Day: On the final leg of our Scandinavian tour we'll begin our trip back to Denmark. Along the way we'll pass by gorgeous Swedich lakes, forest, and valleys.
We'll make a stop in the town of Helsingør, home to the gorgeous Kronborg Castle, otherwise known as Elsinore, where Shakespeare's historic play Hamlet was set. We'll pass it on our ferry ride from Sweden back to Denmark and Copenhagen.
Summary of The Day: Today, our Scandinavian tour comes to an end after breakfast. Make sure to swap contact details with your fellow travelers before you head out on your next adventure.
