Summary of The Day: We'll transfer you from Baltra Airport to Darwin Yacht to start our 5 Days Galapagos cruise.
Our yacht will set sail to Bachas Beach, a swimming beach located on the north shore of Santa Cruz Island. It is one of the few remnants of the U.S. World War II presence in the Galapagos. Birds like flamingos, Sally Lightfoot crabs, hermit crabs, black necked stilts, and whimbrels are found throughout the beach. We may even see some sea turtles nesting.
Summary of The Day: Today we'll visit South Plaza Island, home to marine iguanas and one of the largest populations of land iguanas in the Galapagos. Cliffs with spectacular views and a rocky trail circumnavigate the island, displaying the combination of a dry and coastal vegetation zone. The island is home to enormous prickly pear cactus and the endemic succulent sesuvian.
Next, we'll travel to Santa Fe Island, a volcanic uplift which hosts a forest of Opuntia cactus, the largest of the archipelago. Weathered cliffs provide a haven for swallow-tailed gulls, red-billed tropic birds, and sehar-waters petrels. There is a picturesque lagoon where you can snorkel among sea lions.
Summary of The Day: Today we visit Gardner Bay, Osborn Islet, and Suarez Point. Gardner Bay has a magnificent beach with turquoise waters. Around the small islets nearby, snorkelers will find lots of fish and sometimes turtles and sharks. The bay is also frequented by a colony of sea lions that like to swim with visitors. Birds, like the endemic Hood-mockingbird and different species of Darwin finches, can always be seen.
Osborn Islet, a small island to the southeast of Espanola Island, is a great place for snorkeling and swimming. Suárez Point is one of the most outstanding wildlife areas in the archipelago. In addition to five species of nesting seabirds, there are curious Española Island mockingbirds, Galápagos doves, and Galápagos hawks. Several types of reptiles, including the marine iguana and the over-sized lava lizard, are unique to this island
Summary of The Day: Today we'll arrive at Post Office Bay. This site on Floreana Island is a white-sand beach where sailors used to leave and receive letters in a barrel. The tradition still continues today. While at post office bay, leave a postcard in the barrel and see how long it takes to be delivered to you!
Our next stop is Cormorant Point. Cormorant Point offers a trail overlooking a saltwater lagoon that is a favorite of flamingos. Beyond the lagoon, green sea turtles lay eggs on the magnificent white-sand beach.
To end the day, we will visit Devil’s Crown, arguably the islands' best snorkeling site. Devil's Crown is a collapsed volcanic cone that boasts an extraordinary number and variety of fish. It is a popular roosting site for seabirds such as boobies, pelicans, and frigates. In addition, sharks, sea lions, sea turtles and eels can be found among the rocks and coral.
Summary of The Day: This morning we'll tour The Charles Darwin Research Station to learn about natural history, understand issues concerning the islands, and see the station's tortoise breeding and rearing project at work. After our tour, we will transfer you to the airport for your departure flight.
