Summary of The Day: Welcome to Paris!
Today you'll arrive in Paris and check into our hotel. If you arrive early, feel free to discover the City of Lights on your own. It has numerous scenic streets, fascinating museums, and classic Parisian cafes for you to enjoy.
In the evening your expert guide and fellow travelers we'll head out for an included welcome dinner.
Summary of The Day: Bid adieu to Paris as we head out of the city and into the gorgeous Burgundy region, famous for its amazing French wines.
Here we'll visit a local winery to sample the finest Burgundies, or French wines, including classic Chardonnays and Pinot Noir.
Afterwards, we'll head to Lyon, a World Heritage Site famous for its divine food and gorgeous streets. Your guide we'll lead you on an orientation tour of this classic French city.
In the evening you'll have the opportunity to join your tour leader for an optional dinner (own expense), where you can try classic French cuisine like French onion soup, escargots, and cuisses de grenouille (frogs legs).
Summary of The Day: From Lyon we'll venture into the amazing Loire Valley, home to France's finest chateaus.
First up is the lovely Chateau de Chaumont, built in the 15th century and the perfect introduction to France's rennaissance chateaus. It is also host to the Festival des Jardins, which has been held every summer since 1992, and features up to 30 themed gardens that paint a panorama of landscape design from around the world.
After free time here to explore the chateau and expansive gardens, we'll head to our hotel in the Loire Valley for an included dinner.
Summary of The Day: Today we'll have a free day to explore Loire Valley!
With hundreds of vineyards, cahteaus, and villages, there's plenty to do and see here. Join us for an optional day trip (own expense) or discover this lovely valley on your own.
Summary of The Day: From Loire Valley we'll travel to the coast to visit the world famous Mont Saint-Michel. Beside the Eiffel Tower, it is one of France's most recognizable landmarks. We'll have free time to explore this island commune and the gorgeous abbey found here.
Next, we'll head to northwestern France to discover Bayeux, which is famous for the Bayeux Tapestry, a large embroidered cloth more than 70 meters long which depicts the events leading up to the Norman conquest of England. Take some free time here to see the tapestry in the Musée de la Tapisserie de Bayeux (admission not included), or alternatively you can visit the Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy (admission not included), which offers great insight into historic battle during WWII.
Summary of The Day: Travel back in time with us to one of the most historic battles in history as we visit the famous and tragic beaches of Normandy.
Here we'll discover Omaha D-Day beach, where Allied forces landed in June 1944 during WWII - the largest seaborne invasion in history - which marked the turning point in the retaking of German-occupied Western Europe. You'll have time to explore the area and reflect on all that transpired here, as well as the opportunity to visit the Arromanches 360 cinema (admission not included).
From here we'll make our return to Paris, where your tour leader will give you a proper introduction to the city with a panoramic bus tour. You'll see all the major sights including the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Elysees, Notre Dame, the Louvre, and the Arc de Triomphe. To round off the last day of the tour, we've included a farewell dinner so that you can say your goodbyes and share memories with your fellow travelers.
Summary of The Day: Our 7 day tour of France concludes after breakfast. Don't forget to swap details with your fellow travelers before your onward journey home!
