Summary of The Day: The Seville Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral and the third-largest church in the world. It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, along with the Alcazar palace complex and the General Archive of the Indies. The cathedral is also the burial site of Christopher Columbus.
The Alcazar of Seville is a royal palace in Seville, originally a Moorish fort. The palace is renowned as one of the most beautiful in Spain. The upper levels of the Alcazar are still used by the royal family the official Seville residence and are administered by the National Heritage. It is the oldest royal palace still in use in Europe.
These three iconic structures - Seville Cathedral, Alcazar of Seville, and General Archive of the Indies - are the focus of this walking tour of Seville.
