Paris

London - Paris

We'll depart London and make straight for the channel, arriving in Paris in the early evening. When we arrive we'll take a guided coach tour of the City of Lights and Love, with a brief history and context provided by your tour leader. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to explore during your free day in Paris!

Tonight we'll head to Montmartre for dinner. Ramble the cobble-stone streets, admire the quaint cafes, art shops, and restaurants, and admire the views of Paris from the steps of the famous Sacre Coeur.

Paris is yours to explore at your leisure! Use your free day wisely – there's so much to see! Own-expense activities include a River Seine cruise, the perfect way to see the main sights. You may also opt for an elevator ride to the top of Montparnasse for incredible views of the city and Eiffel Tower (own expense). Look out for the hourly light show at the Eiffel Tower. Time your visit to coincide with this spectacular display!

There's even an optional cabaret show in the evening (own expense). Alternatively, visit the world-famous Louvre museum, perambulate the boutiques and bistros of Le Marais, wander down the Champs-Elysees, see Oscar Wilde's gravestone at Père Lachaise Cemetery, or venture deep underground to the catacombs.

Avignon

Paris - Beaune - Avignon

We'll head out early on Day 3 to make the trip to Avignon, stopping en route in Beaune in the Burgundy region of France. This is the home of two things for which France is best known: food and wine! We'll visit a beautiful French chateau where you can explore the vineyard and wine cellar, and even sample the end product.

We'll then continue on to the ancient city of Avignon, arriving in the early evening. We'll take an orientation tour of the city, followed by dinner in a local restaurant. Surrounded by wonderfully-preserved ramparts dating back some 800 years, this is a city of ancient cobbled streets, fortresses, palaces and leafy squares.

Day 04
Barcelona

Avignon - Pont du Gard - Barcelona

Leaving Avignon, we'll continue on through the idyllic French countryside to see Pont du Gard, the 2,000 year-old Roman aqueduct. Afterwards, we'll make our way to Spain and the vibrant city of Barcelona.

We'll take a driving tour of the city, learning more about its extraordinary main attractions before having dinner. Take note of all the places you want to see during your free day tomorrow!

The day is yours to spend as you like! Stroll La Rambla and take a peek at Gaudi's unfinished masterpiece: the glorious La Sagrada Familia. With its distinctive Catalan ambience, Barcelona is an incredibly rewarding city to explore on foot. Seek out the food markets too – the perfect place to sample the distinctive flavors of Catalan cuisine!

Nice

Barcelona - Arles - French Riviera

Off we go to the French Riviera! On the way we'll stop off in Arles, a region you may recognize from the canvasses of Van Gogh. There's no shortage of Roman artifacts to see, including an impressive amphitheater that still host bull fights, festivals, and street parties.

We'll also stop at a French perfumery where you'll learn about what it takes to craft some of the world's finest fragrances. Then we'll travel onward to the French Riviera. Famous worldwide for its glitz and glamour, the French Riviera is where high society comes to luxuriate.

Florence

Nice - Pisa - Florence

Heading inland once more, we'll make for nearby Italy and one of the world's most famous landmarks, the Leaning Tower of Pisa! Be sure to have your cameras ready, as this is one photo opportunity you don't want to miss.

Our next destination: Florence, where we'll go on a guided walking tour of the city. Learn about the history of Florence and see historical landmarks circa Roman times as well as the glory days of the Renaissance. Be sure to get photos of Ponte Vecchio, Palazzo Vecchio, the Basilica of Santa Croce, Florence Baptistery, and of course, Michelangelo's famous statue of David, a replica of which stands in the Palazzo della Signoria (the original can be seen in the nearby Accademia Gallery).

Then we'll head to the hills of Tuscany, ultimately arriving at our accommodations in the the ancient spa town of Montecatini Terme.

Rome

Florence - Rome

Today we'll make our way to Rome, where you'll be taken on a walking tour of the city, the history of which is everywhere you look, melded with style and culture from every age that followed. Highlights of our walking tour include the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, the Roman Forum, and of course, the Colosseum. And let's not forget the Trevi Fountain. Legend has it that if you drop a coin into the fountain, you'll return again one day.

Rome

Rome

The day is yours to explore Rome as you wish. Head back to the ancient landmarks, or join our optional excursion to the Vatican City (own expense). Covering an area of just 44 hectares, the Vatican City is the world's smallest sovereign state. Marvel at the artwork contained within, and see how Rome became not just the center of the Roman Empire, but also the seat of papal power.

Our first stop is the Tuscan town of Siena, famous for its local cuisine, fine art, world-class museums, medieval cityscape and the Palio, a horse race held twice a year.

Later we'll travel to Venice, arriving in the early evening. Its timeless waterways and artistic masterpieces (more per square kilometer than anywhere else on earth) make it truly unique. This is a city that will capture your heart and imagination. We'll begin with an orientation tour, after which you'll have time to explore this unforgettable city on your own.

Venice

The day is yours to explore Venice on your own. We highly recommend a visit to a Murano glass-blowing workshop to see a live demonstration of this traditional – and hugely impressive – art form. Alternatively you can simply relax and soak up the sun on the sandy beaches at Jesolo or Lido. There’s also the Bridge of Sighs and Doge's Palace to see, as well as any number of culinary delights to sample! Take a gondola ride to get the full Venetian experience.

Venice - Swiss Alps

From Venice we'll continue on to the Swiss Alps, climbing higher into the mountains to our accommodation in a typical Swiss mountain village in the Jungfrau region. One of the most popular alpine destinations, it's a great introduction to the magic of the mountains, and makes for a memorable drive too.

Jungfraujoch

Swiss Alps

The splendor of the Alps is yours today. Don't pass up our optional excursion up to Jungfraujoch, also known as the Top of Europe! The trip to Europe's highest train station is a real highlight; you might find yourself pressed up against the windows as the picture-perfect Swiss countryside rolls beneath you. Look out for quaint villages nestled in the valleys beneath snow-capped peaks.

Once we've reached the top, enjoy the year-round snow and breathtaking views of the surrounding glaciers and craggy mountaintops. Once you've had a chance to explore and capture as many photos as possible, it's back down to lower altitudes for the rest of the afternoon.

In the morning we'll board the coach and drive to the idyllic Rhine Valley in Germany. Relax on board a Rhine riverboat as we ply the waters of the Rhine to our hotel in the heart of the valley, boasting the highest concentration of castles in all of Europe. The Rhine Valley is also characterized by vineyards, charming medieval towns and lofty cliffs.

Upon arrival you'll be treated to a traditional German dinner. Walk it off with a stroll along the riverside. The perfect end to a wonderful day!

Day 16
Amsterdam

Rhine Valley - Amsterdam

Our next stop is the Netherlands, arriving first at a windmill for a quick photo stop. Afterwards, we'll attend a traditional cheese-making demonstration, and learn about that most quirky and quaint of footwear choices: the clog.

Once we've checked in to our hotel in Amsterdam, we'll join a complimentary Amsterdam canal cruise! Later on, join your tour leader for a walking tour of the infamous Red Light District!

Bruges

Amsterdam - Bruges - London

After breakfast, we bid farewell to Amsterdam and make our way back to London via the Belgian city of Bruges. Famous for its beer, waffles, chocolate and moules et frites, Bruges is definitely a good place to be if you've brought your appetite. An extremely popular medieval city with no shortage of cobblestone streets, historic old churches and lofty towers, this is a great city to explore and a good spot to pick up any last-minute souvenirs. Once we've had a look around, it's back to the coach for the final leg of our journey back to London.

  • Our main pick up point is at the Novotel just outside Greenwich Train Station. The meeting time is 6:30am. Greenwich station serves National Rail services, as well as the DLR (Docklands Light Railway), which connects to the London Underground (tube) system. Holiday Inn Express in Greenwich serves as our 2nd meeting point. The coach will pick up passengers outside the hotel between 7:00am and 7:15am.
  • The tour service ends in London at Greenwich Station (173-185 Greenwich High Road, London, SE10 8J) between 6:30pm and 9:30pm.
  • Accommodation is provided in twin share en-suite rooms. We use a mix of mostly 2, 3 and 4-star hotels, and some hostels.
  • The calendar will show all dates available, however, if you request more travelers than there are seats available, you will not be able to book the tour.

  • We do walking tours through most of the cities we visit. Many of these cities are vast and old, often with steps and cobblestones. Our walking tours can last up to three hours with plenty of opportunities to take photographs and soak up the history of these fascinating places, but a certain level of fitness is required to enjoy your tour to the fullest.
  • Due to weight and space limitations, you are allowed to bring one main piece of luggage weighing no more than 20kg (app 44.1 lbs) and one small soft bag for hand luggage. On all tours, you will have to carry your own luggage into hotels (and up to your room if there is no elevator). Please bear this in mind when you are deciding what to pack.
