Today you'll land at the International Terminal of Quito's Airport and transfer to your hotel, where you'll be free to relax.

Day 02

Today you'll begin your tour of Quito, starting with a visit to the Capital’s colonial downtown.

A UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, Quito invites you to visit its historic and modern treasures as we walk around the Independence Plaza, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and Archbishop’s Palace, the Municipality, and the Carondelet Government Palace. Due to its multiple temples and cloisters, Quito is also known as “America’s Cloisters.” You will also visit “La Compañía” church and the San Francisco Convent. Later you will be taken to “El Panecillo,” a small hill in the middle of the city with a fabulous view of the 45 km long and 4 km wide city and the snow-capped volcanoes.

In the afternoon we will visit the world famous Equator, “Mitad del Mundo” which is located only 30 minutes from Quito. From here you can step from the Northern Hemisphere to the Southern Hemisphere. In the 18th century the French Geodesic Expedition arrived here to perform important researches and investigate the Earth’s actual form.

We'll will also visit the Intiñan Museum where you learn about all the different cultures of Ecuador.

Day 03

Quito - Peguche - Cuicocha - Otavalo

Hotel: Hosteria Pinsaqui or similar

In the morning we'll we will visit the town of Peguche where you will visit the Peguche Waterfalls and also to enjoy an incredible visit a local family to learn about Peguche weaving, which utilizes natural dies and local wool textiles. Afterwards you will meet another local family to learn about local musical styles.

Next, we'll enjoy Carnes Coloradas, a traditional meal made with red meat. You will witness how it is made before enjoying a delicious meal.

Then we'll travel north on the Pan-American Highway avenue to the Province of Imbabura, traveling to Otavalo. Along the way you will take a short walk to the Laguna de Cuicocha, the beautiful lagoon is in the crater of the extinct Vulcan Cotacachi (4939m) in the Ecological Reserve Cotacachi.

We'll end the day in Otavalo.

Day 04

Otavalo - Papallacta

Hotel: Termas de Papallacta or similar

Today you will visit the local Otavalo market in the "Plaza del Poncho." This is the perfect place to learn about local Ecuadorian culture, crafts, and fashion while purchasing leather products, woven products, rugs, "shigras" (colorful straw or linen woven bags), and hand-carved wooden products.

Then we'll say farewell to Otavalo and travel to Cayambe, known by their famous biscochos de Cayambe, a local crumbly biscuit, which you will get to enjoy.

We'll end the day at the wonderful thermal baths of Papallacta, where we'll spend the night.

Day 05

Papallacta - Cotopaxi NP - Riobamba

Hotel: Hacienda Abraspungo or similar

After breakfast we'll head south on the Pan-American Highway and follow the Volcanoes Avenue to Cotopaxi National Park, home to the world's largest snow-capped volcano (5897 m.).

It will only take an hour to arrive at this expansive national park of 83,829 acres. The road will take us to the Limpiopungo lagoon close to the Rumiñahui volcano. We may also visit the Hacienda Tambopaxi where you can enjoy the wonderful landscape.

After exploring the park we'll end the day in Riobamba.

Day 06

Riobamba - Alausi - Ingapirca - Cuenca

Hotel: Hotel Dorado or similar

Early in the morning you will take a drive to Alausi and board the Devil's Nose Train.

This thrilling part of the journey will lead us along an amazing train route that zigzags up and down at a 45-degree gradient, otherwise known as the "Nariz del Diablo" (Devil’s Nose). On the way down the train will go backwards and return to Alausi.

After train trip continue to visit the Ingapirca ruins, located in the province of Cañar. It is believed today that Ingapirca was both a religious and administrative center, as well as a fortress. The Incas built the complex on top of an old Cañari settlement. The vast archaeological complex of the ruins includes a roofless fortification, courtyards, terraces, temples, houses and a castle, and possibly a “Temple of the Sun.”

We'll spend the night in Cuenca.

Day 07


Hotel: Hotel Dorado or similar

Today we'll enjoy a city tour of Cuenca, visiting the city’s Historic Centec and Plaza de San Sebastian, a picturesque and traditional neighborhood of Cuenca. Here we'll see the exterior of the Modern Art Museum, where the famous International Biennial of Painting takes place.

From here we will also visit the Calderon Park (central park), the Flower Plaza, and the Church del Carmen. Next, we'll see the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, aka the New Cathedral, considered as of the biggest churches in Latin America. Afterwards we'll the Cathedral El Sagrario, commonly known as the Old Cathedral, the city’s first Cathedral.

Following this we will visit a Panama Hat Factory, where we'll observe the elaborate process to making these iconic hats. The tour will continue with a visit to the Barranco” which constitutes a communion between architecture and the natural environment. The houses are attached to the incline, displaying their majesty and charm.

We'll end our tour with the “Mirador de Turi” (scenic viewpoint) where we'll enjoy captivating views of the valley, city, and imposing mountains.

The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore on your own.

Day 08

Cuenca - Cajas - Guayaquil

Following breakfast we'll depart Cuenca and travel to Cajas National Park. Towering at 9990 ft. above sea level, we'll discover this park's amazing landscape, which is an ideal place for lovers of abundant vegetation and animal life. Trip to El Cajas National Park located 21 miles away from Cuenca. This 71.186 acre area includes vast mountains and 232 lagoons of glacier origin, connected with each other by small rivers and streams. Two of the rivers surrounding Cuenca, Tomebamba and Yanuncay, are born in this area.

Afterwards we'll drive to Guayaquil, visiting a local banana and cacao plantation on the way to taste one of the most important export products of the country.

Upon arrival in Guayaquil we'll enjoy a short panoramic city tour and a final farewell dinner.

Today we'll say farewell and transfer you to the airport for your departing flight.

Pick-up Details/Transfers
Your guide and transport will be waiting for you at the International Terminal of Quito ́s Airport to take you directly to your hotel.

Airport pick-up begins after 8:00am. Please book a flight arriving after 8:00am.

After checking out of the hotel in the morning you will transfer to the Guayaquil Airport for your departing flight.

Airport drop-off begins after 3:00pm. Please book a flight departing after 3:00pm.
