Itinerary
Day 01
Amsterdam

London - Bruges - Amsterdam

Hotel: Hampton by Hilton Schipol Airport / Holiday Inn Express Schipol Airport / Park Inn Plaza Amsterdam Airport / Crowne Plaza Amsterdam Schiphol / Lake land Hotel or similar

Crossing the English Channel, we'll drive through France and then Belgium, making a stop in Bruges, the Venice of the North. The Belgian city of Bruges is small but picturesque, with breathtaking architecture and wonderful personality. Take some time to stretch your legs and indulge in a spot of sightseeing while you're here. You'll notice the landscape change to windmills and waterways as we approach the city of Amsterdam.

Once everyone is checked in to the hotel, we'll hop back on the coach and head into the city center. Our first activity is a canal cruise with dinner, accompanied by interesting commentary and facts about the city's development and history. Sit back, relax and take everything in as you drift past famous landmarks and sights. After seeing the bridges and city from the waterside, it's time for your tour leader to take you on an included walking tour of the infamous Red Light District. Afterwards, you're free to hit the cafes, bars and coffee shops. This is your first night on tour, so squeeze every last drop out of it!

Day 02
Amsterdam

Amsterdam - Zaanse Schans - Volendam - Amsterdam

Hotel: Hampton by Hilton Schipol Airport / Holiday Inn Express Schipol Airport / Park Inn Plaza Amsterdam Airport / Crowne Plaza Amsterdam Schiphol / Lake land Hotel or similar

Our morning program begins with an entertaining demonstration on how traditional Dutch clogs are made, followed by a lesson in local cheese making. You'll have ample time to pop some clogs on, taste some cheesy treats, and if it isn't too early for you, sample the local liqueurs and wines.

Next stop is the historical windmill village of Zaanse Schans. Check out these wind-powered wonders and discover how they were vital to industrial development in the Netherlands. This is a great chance to take some fabulous photos!

Ready for a taste of the sea air? In the quaint seaside village of Volendam you'll have time to stretch your legs, wander the main street filled with cafes and local knick-knacks, and admire the view. If you have time, try the local seafood for an early lunch. Your afternoon is free to spend as you wish.

Heading back into Amsterdam there are numerous museums and art galleries to choose from. Why not visit Anne Frank’s house, the Van Gogh museum, take a bicycle tour or simply wander the streets and canals? Notice some of the original townhouses seem to have a forward lean to them? This is so furniture can be hoisted on from the outside of the house and brought in through the windows, because the staircases inside are too narrow! Amsterdam is truly unique!

Tips:
Breakfast is included.
Day 03
Berlin

Amsterdam - Berlin

Hotel: IBIS Berlin Ostbahnhof / Ibis Berlin City West / Grand City Berlin City East / Tryp by Wyndham City East or similar

Today we'll continue our tour of Europe in Germany. An early start is needed to arrive in Berlin by late afternoon, but it will be worth it. The city of Berlin has a positive energy which bursts forth from every direction, fueled by a young population of artists, writers and musicians. There is an eclectic mix of music styles and street art here - in stark opposition to the lifestyle of the city once divided into East and West. Although there are constant reminders of the oppression suffered by the German people contained within the walls of the city, the modern-day version is virtually the opposite.

If you have time before dinner, wander along the river and check out the decorated Berlin Wall. Tomorrow you'll have plenty of time to explore the historical aspects of the city, but for now, kick your heels up and relish in the freedom of the night! The bars and clubs are calling your name!

Tips:
Breakfast and dinner are included.

Day 04
Berlin

Berlin

Hotel: IBIS Berlin Ostbahnhof / Ibis Berlin City West / Grand City Berlin City East / Tryp by Wyndham City East or similar

Today you will be introduced to Berlin on a locally guided walking tour of the city, visiting poignant locations such as Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, the Site of Hitler’s Former Bunker, Luftwaffe HQ, 17th June Street, The Berlin Wall, The Former SS Headquarters, and Checkpoint Charlie.

Visitors to Berlin are fascinated with the history surrounding the division of the city into East and West, and significant locations which featured in news bulletins and TV footage of the day. The Berlin Wall stands as a somber reminder of the controls imposed on Berlin during and after WWII. The energetic art which adorns its streets today, however, seems to give it a peaceful purpose.

A replica of the original Checkpoint Charlie, which is found in the shopping district of the city, is visited by hundreds of tourists each day for a photo opportunity. There are numerous free museums and galleries to visit, which all contribute to the understanding of the city's modern history. Keep an open mind and listen closely, so that you don't miss a thing.

Tips:
Breakfast is included.
Day 05
Prague

Berlin - Dresden - Prague

Hotel: Hotel Duo or similar

It's time to bid farewell to Berlin and Czech out Prague, but not before we take a look at the German city of Dresden. Virtually rebuilt from the ground up after bombing attacks in WWII, Dresden is immaculate and stylish. The majestic buildings are no reflection on the pain they suffered during the bombings, and it is a credit that this city has been so lovingly put back together. Try some of the local German food, and have a wander around the beautifully paved streets.

Heading east to the Czech Republic, it's time to get excited about what lays ahead. Prague is an unforgettable city, staying in your memory long after other locations have faded. The historic center was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992. Your locally-guided walking tour will introduce you to many locations, which you will want to explore in depth on your free day tomorrow. Prague has a vibrant nightlife which rivals its daytime allure. Watch the lights dance across the river as you cross the Charles Bridge and marvel at the castles lit against the night sky. Make sure you venture into the city and explore by both the sun and the moon.

Experience authentic Czech cuisine at our local restaurant on your first night in Prague. The history of this restaurant dates back hundreds of years. It is a favorite among locals as well as our fellow travelers. You will also have the option to try world-famous Czech Beer.

Tips:
Breakfast and dinner are included.
Day 06
Prague

Prague

Hotel: Hotel Duo or similar

Treat yourself to the fairytale magic of Prague, aptly described as the Jewel in the Crown of central Europe. This ancient city has an essence which combines youthful inquisitiveness and old world wisdom. Highlights of the day might include the majestic Prague Castle, the famous Charles Bridge (you need to also see the views from the bridge at night - simply stunning), Old Town and the Jewish Quarter. There is also a Secret Garden which leads to a man-made grotto - see if you can find it! The Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square is a must see. The intricate puppetry and show performed on the hour draws hundreds of people day and night.

Prague's dramatic history is reflected in the beauty of its churches, opera houses, concert halls, and parks. There are numerous beer halls in which to sample a local brew, and for those who wish to put your stamp on the city, why not visit legendary Lennon wall, a tribute to John Lennon.

Did we mention fairy-tale city earlier? It is worth noting that Prague is the home of the green fairy: absinthe. Go easy, and enjoy!

Tips:
Breakfast is included.

Vienna is home to Sigmund Freud, the Vienna Boys Choir, a clutch of the world's most celebrated composers - Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms - the United Nations, OPEC, and Wiener Schnitzel. Admire the famous Schonbrunn Palace as you approach Vienna. Your guided walking tour of the city includes the Golden Mile, Imperial Castle, and St. Stephen's Cathedral. Hotel: Elite Residence Hotel / NH Laguna Palace / Hotel Complex Ambasciatori & Delfino / Hotel Venezia or similar

Vienna to Venice - no less than three countries today! Take your last look at Austria as we head for Slovenia, and the the pint-sized city of Ljubljana. A local guide will take you on a walking tour of this fairy-tale city, pointing out the numerous bridges and brilliantly preserved Baroque, Gothic and Medieval buildings. Take in the stunning scenery as you head south, crossing the border into Italy.

Welcome to Venice! This unique city straddling 118 islands is known for its canals, gondolas, Venetian masks, piazzas, fine art, and traditional glass and lace making. On arrival, your tour leader will take you on a walking tour of the city, so you can use your free time in the early evening to explore properly. The whole of Venice has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, indicating the historical significance this city carries. The evening is yours to enjoy authentic Italian delights, with hundreds of fantastic local restaurants and bars to choose from. After an espresso, explore Venice the traditional way: from the canals. Day 09
Venice

Venice

Hotel: Elite Residence Hotel / NH Laguna Palace / Hotel Complex Ambasciatori & Delfino / Hotel Venezia or similar

The day is yours to explore! The best way to discover Venice is to get lost in the streets, piazzas and alleyways of the city. Don't worry, it's easy to find your way back. The daytime brings with it an opportunity to experience the artistic side of Venice. Handmade Venetian masks adorn the windows of the local gift shops, along with lace and stunning glass creations. Want to see how they make them?

Head to the islands of Murano and Burano for demonstrations of how these traditional art forms are still made today. St Mark's Square is incredible during the day, and a water tour of the Grand Canal is a must do, especially for those wanting those classic Venetian photos! If it is a warm day, why not head for a dip with the locals at the ever popular Lido Beach?

Venice is also well known for wining and dining. There are hundreds of little cafes alongside the canals, offering a unique view of the waterways and a variety of food and wine options. So if you prefer to sit back and watch the world go by, then Venice is the perfect place for you. Once the sun starts to sink, the piazzas fill with hundreds of people, looking to relax at the end of their day. Live music guides you through the streets and over the canals, and if you didn't try it last night, a gondola ride is surely to be next on tonight's agenda. Enjoy!

Another free day in the capital to explore as you wish.
