After the pick up from your hotel, your guide will transport you to the city of Chapala, located about 27 miles (45 km) south of Guadalajara on the shore of Lake Chapala. Surrounded by mountains and famous for its beautiful scenery, the lake has become a hot spot for American retirees who are attracted by the amazing weather all year in the region.
Take a boat ride to the Scorpion Island, a small isolated island accessible only by boats, including popular canoes. While enjoying the beautiful landscape, your guide
will point out the many types of birds, including pelicans that inhabit the lake. You will see a uniform perspective of the lake from the center of the island, offering a couple of outdoor restaurants serving local specialties like fried tiny fish that accompanied panied with salt, lemon and chili. Just 10 minutes from Chapala on the north shore of
the lake, a huge wooded welcomes to visitors to the small town of Ajijic, famous for its nuclear riders and moderate summer temperatures. Your guide will provide an overview of the history of the city and the importance of the lake to the region.
