The Cachalote

Join us for an adventure aboard our schooner motor sailor!

Cachalote I is one of the few motor sailors offering cruises in the Galapagos Islands and is ideal for those travelers are enthusiastic about wildlife and enjoy being active. This traditional yacht offers an authentic, intimate and adventurous experience in the Galapagos Islands while providing the guests a first class service. Whilst most of the day time is spent exploring the islands and snorkeling in this National Park and Marine Reserve, there is also time to relax on deck while the boat cruises from one visitor site to the next.

Cachalote I is a comfortable and beautifully decorated yacht recently built in 2002 to meet all safety standards. Cachalote I accommodates 16 passengers in her 8 cabins: seven upper / lower berths and one matrimonial cabin with all private ensuite with hot/cold showers, and independent air conditioning units. There is plenty of deck space on three different wooden decks with seats and cushions to relax in the shade or sunbathe during the cruise.

While cruising through the Galapagos islands Cachalote’s guests have the opportunity to observe unique and abundant wildlife, walk along unusual volcanic terrain, snorkel with sea lions and marine turtles, and spot dolphins and whales from deck. Come, relax and have fun on our new vessel!

The Cachalote I has been awarded the “Smart Voyager Certification” for adhering to conservations standards and complies with all international maritime regulations and is SOLAS certified.

Please be aware there is a USD 50 penalty fee for not booking flights directly with the local operator. This fee is applied to compensate for the higher cargo costs charged by the airline in order to send food and other necessary supplies to Galapagos on the same flight as clients' when the air tickets are not issued by the local operator.

We had a wonderful trip on the Cachalote with David Paez as our guide. He is an excellent guide, very informative and knowledgeable as well as being patient and polite. It is impossible for me to pick out highlights of the trip as every day... was different and full of interest, different islands different wildlife, more surprises. There was a great atmosphere on the Cachalote too with a small group who bonded well though most of us did not know the others before the trip and we had 4 nationalities altogether. Read full review

    Thanks to all

it was fantastic; we had a guide who was excellent, really informative and I could not fault the crew who were always friendly and helpful. The standard of cooking was first class and the cook did a great Christmas dinner for us! The island...s themselves were out of this world. I will never forget them and we were all really pleased that we chose the Cachalote. Thanks again for all your help! Read full review

    Fabulous time!

I just want to say again what a FABULOUS time we had on Cachalote. It exceeded all expectations and was truly the trip of a lifetime. I will be recommending it to many friends here in the states.I particularly wanted to compliment the guide..., who was not only very knowledgeable about the islands, but also a very warm and wonderful host. Who expected a naturalist guide who would also play his guitar and sing for us and teach us all to dance salsa?! I also wanted to compliment the panga driver, who was very highly skilled, and always made us feel safe in even the most choppy waters and difficult landings.Thank you all for all your assistance, too Read full review

    Our Trip Was Great!

Our trip was great. The Cachalote I is very nice. Our fellow passengers were congenial, and the size of the group seemed just right. The crew was hardworking and eager to please. The guide was knowledgeable, considerate and helpful, and he ...took particular notice of the interests of the different members of the group. The Islands are, of course, very interesting, with spectacular scenery and spectacular wildlife. Read full review
