Summary of The Day: Travel from trendy Honolulu to the nature and gorgeuos Big Island of Hawaii with this scenic journey! We'll pick you up from your hotel in Waikiki and fly out of Honolulu to Hilo for our grand adventure. Here we'll discover Hawaii's only active volcano, see gorgeous waterfalls, and enter ancient lava tubes.
But first we'll get to know the island with a 45-minute Blue Hawaiian Helicopter Tour, which we'll fly us over the volcano, waterfalls, and the largest rainforest in the US! Make sure to bring your camera for this soaring journey!
Then we'll touch back down on the ground and begin our land tour. First w'ell visit the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut headquarters to sample flavorful nuts that have been roasted to perfection. Next, we'll explore the exotic Akatsuka Orchid Gardens that hosts over 1,000 lovely orchids and tropical plants.
Afterwards, we'll enter the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. We'll break for lunch at the Volcano House Restaurant (own expense) before visiting the Jaggar Museum, a geological museum that chronicles the history and study of the volcano. You'll also get to view the Kīlauea Caldera from the observation deck. Next, we'll observe Halemaʻumaʻu Crater before stepping into Thurston LAva Tube, a massive lava cavern where we can walk through these ancient halls. Along the way we'll get to visit the Kilauea Visitor Center to learn more about the park, learn about Kilauea Iki Crater and the volcano's steam vents, and travel along the Chain of Craters Road.
We'll return to Oahu at 8:30pm (time is approximate).
