Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal

Canada's largest church is situated atop Mount Royal in Montreal and is the largest shrine in the world honoring Saint Joseph. Construction on Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount Royal began in 1924 near an oratory first built by Saint Andre Bessette in 1904. The Italian Renaissance style basilica wasn't finished until 1967. The Roman Catholic site contains Crypt Church, Chapel of Origin, Votive Chapel, Oratory Museum, cafeteria, gift shop and gardens. It is a National Historic Site of Canada and visited by more than two million people every year.
