National Museum of Natural History

Established in 1910, this Smithsonian museum located on the National Mall is massive in size comparable to 18 football fields. Popular exhibits include the 45.52-carat Hope Diamond, Genome:Unlocking Life's Code, the Mummified Cat, Dom Pedro Aquamarine, Giant Ground Sloth, Neanderthal reconstruction, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Live Coral Reef, Live Butterfly Pavilion and Mud Masons of Mali. The National Museum of Natural History, which contains more than 127 million artifacts and specimens, is the world's most visited natural history exhibition.
