Hanalei Bay

This tropical utopia has approximately two miles of white sand beaches bordered by majestic green mountains and is located on Kauai's north shore. The two-mile long Hanalei Bay can be described by the Hawaiian translation of its name "crescent bay" and is surrounded by the beaches of Waikoko, Wai'oli, Hanalei Pavilion and Black Pot. Surfing, swimming, sailing, kayaking and windsurfing are popular recreational activities on the bay. The destination is the topic of a short story by Japanese author Haruki Murakami and the 1958 movie "South Pacific" was filmed here.
