Elko

The city of Elko, located in the Elko county of Nevada, is situated on the Humboldt River. Elko is the largest city within 130 miles in all directions, making it "The Heart of Northeast Nevada," which is also the city's motto. The city of Elko was first inhabited in 1868, when the Central Pacific Railroad was created. The city is known for its gold mining, and is considered Nevada's gold belt.
