With so many places to visit in Europe, your trip may feel a bit overwhelmed as you decide where you want to explore.  Here is a list and a few suggestions of activities and areas you may want try out on your next journey to Europe.

Italy

Aside from its vast architectural beauty and rich culture, Italy’s is widely renowned for its delicious cuisine.  Take advantage of your time in Florence by enrolling in a cooking class for the day, and learn to make your own pastas, pizzas, and desserts from the masters themselves!  Courses are usually only a couple hours long and are taught in English. 

France

Visit the Champs Elysees which stretches from Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe.  It is perhaps Paris’ most beautiful avenue as it is bordered with the finest fashion stores, movie theaters and impeccable restaurants. 

Another activity you must take advantage of while in Paris is to bike along the Seine River.  Once in Paris, you will see many bike stands lining the sides of the roads.  You simply visit the bike kiosk and pay for one of the bikes and the bike will be released from the lock.  Traveling on bike will offer a first hand perspective on sightseeing what Paris really has to offer. 

Belgium

For a really spectacular view of what Belgium has to offer, brave the climb to the top of the Belfort Tower!  The distinctive monument can be seen towering over the landscape of the Bruges and features 366 steps to the top.  Once at the top, be rewarded for your efforts with a panoramic view of the beautiful city. 

Germany

Nestled in the center of the Bavarian woods lies the Neuschwanstein Castle.  Used as the model for the Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty castle, the masterpiece is truly reminiscent of a fairytale.  Discover for yourself why this castle is the most photographed building in Germany. 

Russia

Moscow is one of the most visited cities in Russia.  Tourists often visit The Moscow Kremlin, which resides over the left bank of the Moskva River.  It has long been held as a representation of the power and stature of the Russians.  The Moscow Kremlin is also home to the Tsar Bell and the Tsar Cannon.  Also don’t forget to visit the neighboring museums to fully appreciate Russian history.

Greece

Visit one of the most picturesque and romantic landscapes Greece has to offer in Santorini.  Set upon the edge of a volcanic crater; enjoy the views of the bright white homes complimented with pale blue domes.  This stunning view of the homes in combination with the deep blue water along with a stunning sunset leaves even the most experienced traveler in awe. 

Spain

While in Spain, visit Madrid’s most famous central squares, La Puerta del Sol.  On the south side of the square features a clock tower, known as the Real Casa de Correos.  This is the famous clock that millions visit to ring in the New Year.  The square also houses several famous Spanish statues, starting with El Oso y El Madrono, which translates to “the bear and the strawberry tree,” and has long been revered as the symbol of Madrid.  This vibrant part of the city is filled with restaurants and bars and is an excellent way to experience life in Spain as a local would. 

Take advantage of all that Europe has to offer by visiting a few of the destinations listed above.  It’s always beneficial and enjoyable to visit some of the typical tourist spots, but also try to explore what the locals do too in your free time.  This can provide a more intimate approach to learning the culture and tradition of that country.
