The Perks of Having a Travel Companion

Traveling is a great way to experience the world, but what better way to spend it than with someone else who is just excited about traveling as you are!  Travel companions are always a great idea, whether it is on a 3-Day trip to Las Vegas, or a 1-Day tour of Washington D.C.

Safety

A lot of people are worried about safety when traveling to new places.  Being exposed to movies strewn with scenes of traveling disasters like cars being stolen, people being kidnapped, or passports getting pick-pocketed, it’s no wonder why traveling alone can be intimidating.  Traveling with someone else offers an extra sense of security since you know that someone else is looking out for you.   Having a travel companion also allows you to experience a destination’s nightlife, while still feeling safe.  Two heads are better than one, so if you ever get in a jam, you won’t feel as helpless as you would if you were alone.  

Making a Friend

The best thing about traveling with someone else is being able to make a new friend through the adventures and places you explore together.  In times of wait you can entertain each other and really get to know the other person.  Also, instead of having to ask people to take a photo of you in front of your favorite monument, you always have someone ready and willing to snap away.  By the end of it all, you’ll probably be asking strangers to take pictures of the both of you!

New Perspectives

Another benefit of having a travel companion is that they can open your eyes to visit places and participate in activities that you otherwise might not do.  Who knows, maybe that salsa class your get talked into sparks a desire to learn salsa at home, or you see a hidden part of the city you never knew about.  Either way, traveling with someone else can open your mind to new approaches to traveling, allowing you to fully experience different cultures.

Traveling in a group, even a duo, can have perks in a more economical sense.  Many museums, tours, and transportation offer discounts for group travel.  With splitting taxis, food, and accommodations, you’ll have more money to spend on recreational activities and souvenirs!
