The ambiance of Rome’s must beautiful churches enhances Caravaggio’s dramatic use of light and one of his main innovations “chiaroscuro”. This use of light seems a direct way to represent the artist’s own demons. Young, troubled and restless Caravaggio comes to Rome to rebel against the idea of beautiful left by the Renaissance and ends up paying the price for it.
Outcast during his time Caravaggio became in the late XIX century one of the most influential artists of the XVII century and his work will set the tone for what will later become the Baroque.
During the tour you will also admire the works of art by masters such as Bernini, Raphael and others. You will learn about their lives and the powerful families which commissioned their works.
