Summary of The Day: We'll depart Lisbon, Portugal at 7:30 a.m. and travel to the Spanish city of Caceres - declared a World Heritage Site because of the city's blend of Roman, Islamic, Northern Gothic and Italian Renaissance architecture.
We'll take a stroll through its Plaza Mayor and Old Town. Afterwards, we'll continue on toward Cordoba - once the capital of the Caliphate.
We'll have dinner and stay overnight in Cordoba.
Summary of The Day: We'll have breakfast at the hotel before taking an impressive tour of Cordoba's unique Mosque-Cathedral in addition to strolling the winding streets of the city's Jewish Quarter.
We'll depart Cordoba during the afternoon and take a two-hour ride to reach Seville. We'll have dinner and accommodations at our Seville hotel.
Summary of The Day: We'll once again have breakfast at the hotel and then go on a Seville City Tour. We'll see the Seville Cathedral (from outside), the second largest in the Catholic world after St. Peters in Rome.
Afterwards, we'll visit the Santa Cruz Quarter, precisely where the myth of Don Juan developed. We'll next venture to the gorgeous Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de Espana.
During the evening, you'll have the option to attend a Flamenco show.
Summary of The Day: After breakfast at the hotel, we'll drive east through the Caliphate to the heart of Andalucia observing an endless number of olive trees on the way to Granada. This Spanish city has an incredible and amazing monumental environment and was the last stronghold of the Moorish Kingdoms up until 1492.
You'll be able to visit the world famous Alhambra (Red Palace) and Generalife Gardens that are made up of breathtaking fountains, gardens and patios that have inspired several authors such as W. Irving.
We'll have dinner at the hotel. You'll have the option to attend a Gypsy Flamenco show in the Sacromonte Quarter.
Summary of The Day: After breakfast at the hotel, we'll start driving toward the Mediterranean coast. We'll travel via Murcia, capital of the fertile garden of the Segura River, continue north via Alicante, the second largest city within the autonomous region land of Valencia.
We'll reach Valencia - one of the main capitals of the Mediterranean coast with its modern Arts and Sciences Architectural Complex. Valencia is also the home of the internationally renowned and delicious “Paella.”
We'll stay the night in Valencia.
Summary of The Day: We'll have breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a morning city tour of this bright city including a drive through the old city while your tour guide points out the most important buildings. We will then head to the most avant-garde complex Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias.
We'll make an early afternoon departure northward all along the Mediterranean coast to Catalunya, via Tarragona, the Roman Tarraco.
We'll then reach Barcelona - principal Mediterranean city and homeland of the famous architect Gaudi.
Overnight accommodations will be in Barcelona.
Summary of The Day: We'll have breakfast at the hotel and then we'll take a morning city tour of Barcelona.
The city is known around the world for hosting the 1992 Olympic Games. We'll drive along the main avenues with impressive modernist buildings by Gaudi such as Casa Mila.
We'll tour Montjuic Park - offering spectacular views of the city and harbor, Olympic Ring, monument to Columbus and the emblematic Gothic Quarter.
You'll have free time during the afternoon to further explore this impressive and artistic city!
Summary of The Day: After breakfast at the hotel, we'll depart southwest to arrive in Zaragoza - capital city of Aragon. Zaragoza, known as Cesar Augusta during the Roman period had an important role in Spanish history.
You'll have some free time to see the impressive Baroque architecture of the Basilica-Temple of Our Lady Pilar.
We'll then continue to Madrid.
