ItineraryThe Palace of Versailles was the residence of the Kings of France from 1682 up until the French Revolution in 1789. Touring the palace and grounds with an audio guide allows you to go at your own pace, giving you plenty of time to admire the Baroque architecture, sumptuous decor, priceless works of art, and finely-crafted furniture. Afterwards, enjoy a stroll through the palace's gardens.
Your audio guide will take you through the seemingly endless succession of halls and apartments at Versailles, telling you all about the history of the palace along the way. Visit the palace's most beautiful rooms: the King's Grand Apartment, the Queen's Grand Apartment (including the Coronation Room and the Queen's Bedroom) and the Hall of Mirrors designed by famous architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart to astonish guests of Louis XIV.
In 1661, Louis XIV commissioned the gardener Andre Le Notre to lay out the grounds and gardens, which contain more than 200 statues positioned among innumerable fountains, ponds and flower beds.- Tips:
- The fountains will be switched on for the Grandes Eaux water show on Saturdays and Sundays from April to October. Duration on-site: 2 hours
