Summary of The Day: In the morning we'll begin our amazing African safari, heading first to the legendary land of the “Man-Eaters” – Tsavo National Park. The 21,000 sq km park is one of the largest in the whole world. Due to its enormous size, the park was divided into two parts Tsavo East and Tsavo West, for easy administration and management. This wilderness is home to over 1000 plant species, 400 bird species and more than 60 major mammal species such as lions, huge herds of buffalo, the solitary and ill-tempered Rhino and at least 7000 elephants.
Summary of The Day: Today we'll enjoy two game drives (one in the morning, one in the afternoon) to experience the diverse variety of animals that call this region home. The extensive and unique habitats offer ideal area to search for pride of lions, buffaloes, cheetahs, giraffe, zebras, hippos and wildebeests. We'll also get to visit Mzima Spring, an underground water seepage from Chyulu Hills, which is a good place to watch the hippos as well as see the vast variety of birds’ species that thrive here.
Summary of The Day: After breakfast, we'll drive to Amboseli National Park. The Park is famous for the massive herds of elephants that live here and the impressive view of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa.
After lunch is served you’ll have time to relax or enjoy the sun heated swimming pool before leaving for another game drive this afternoon.
We will be back in time for a warm shower or a cocktail before dinner is served,
Summary of The Day: We'll begin today with a morning game drive, travel across the open flat plains which are ideal for spotting prides of lions, buffaloes, cheetahs, zebras, and wildebeests. The swamps are good places to catch the elephants as they bath in the mud.
In the afternoon we'll take another game drive and have the chance to discover local African Culture by visiting a local Masai Village.
Summary of The Day: After an early breakfast we'll head back to Nairobi, “The City Under The Sun,” for lunch. Heading further north, we drive through coffee plantations to the Ark Tree Lodge.
The Lodge, which comes alive at night with the various sounds of animals, is one of the exotic “Tree Hotels” of Kenya. All of the en-suite rooms have balconies from which you can look beyond the trees to observe the endless parade of wildlife. You can watch these animals from the safety of your room or from a specially built viewing bunker connected to the lodge by a tunnel, which affords you an amazing up-close view of the animals as they visit waterholes and salt lick.
Summary of The Day: This morning we'll travel to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River. It is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy’s zebras and Beisa Oryxes.
We also enjoy Larsens Tented Camp or Samburu Intrepids Camp, our luxurious hostelry set beneath a canopy of acacia trees
along the banks of the river.
Summary of The Day: Dawn breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the bush by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda with a cup of steaming coffee in hand. Before the dew is off the grass, we’re off in pursuit of the elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands. And so the day is spent in alternating pursuits of exploration in the bush and relaxation in our cozy camp.
Summary of The Day: After breakfast, we'll travel overland to the Sweetwater’s Game Reserve and Chimpanzee Sanctuary. This 70,000-acre private preserve has views of the peaks of Mount Kenya and offers game drives into countryside many travelers never see. We check into our tented camp and have lunch here, which was once the private domain of famed multi-millionaire, Adnan Kashoggi.
This afternoon game drive takes us to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary, a charming haven established by the Jane Goodall Institute to provide sanctuary to orphaned chimps, and the specially protected and fenced refuge of black rhino with its stunning forty specimens! In fact Sweetwater’s boasts excellent game viewing with the highest ratio of game to area of any park or reserve in Kenya.
Moreover, the camp has its own private waterhole and saltlick so we’ll be guaranteed unprecedented close encounters. Whether its day or night game drives, camel trekking, lion tracking, al fresco dining or relaxing by pool, Sweetwater’s is bound to delight.
Summary of The Day: Today we'll travel to the exotic Lake Nakuru National Park located in the Great Rift Valley. After lunch an exciting game run is planned for the afternoon. The game in this park is plentiful and the magnificent bird watching will make a devotee out of even the most reluctant.
The Park is a home to stunning flocks of lesser and Greater Flamingos, which literally turn the lakeshores in to a magnificent pink stretch. The bird life here is world renown and over 400 bird’s species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the white Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe.
Summary of The Day: Excitement and expectations build as we drive to the Masai Mara with its myth-like stories of bountiful wildlife. And we shan’t be disappointed, we'll drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley to the Masai Mara National Reserve.
This enormous reserve is actually part of the vast Serengeti plains famously known for its spectacular great wildebeest’s migration and is home of the Big Five: Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino. We'll have lunch at our Luxury Tented Camp and relax before departing for the afternoon game run.
Summary of The Day: We'll spend a full day in the Masai Mara on morning and afternoon game drives. The trees in the distance might turn out to be a family of Giraffes. Those clump of bushes a pride of Lions, and the rock that moves a Rhino lumbering out of your way.
With diligence and some luck, you may encounter a family of Cheetahs, or a herd of Elephants crossing the path in front of you. Large animals are not the only entertainment – a family of warthogs may amuse you, running as fast as their little legs will carry them, until they forget why they are rushing and stop to regroup.
Summary of The Day: Today you can have the option of waking up very early in the morning for a trip that is magical: spend about one hour silently floating over the savannah in a hot air balloon and it will fill you with enough memories to last a lifetime (own expense). Float in the sky, drifting with the whim of the wind, overlooking the plains, just in time to experience a breathtaking sunrise and catch a bird’s eye view of the reserve.
After the flight, you will be treated to a luxurious ‘Bush breakfast’ to complete the experience as you relax and absorb the moment. After we spend the day in the Masai Mara – one of the greatest wildernesses of the world on morning and afternoon game drives. Large mammals are varied, abundant and easy to see.
Summary of The Day: The search for great predators and perhaps even cubs continues today during extensive game runs. On the plains are enormous herds of grazing animals plus the elusive cheetah and leopard hiding amidst acacia boughs.
During our stay we also have an optional opportunity to visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a poignant experience.
Summary of The Day: We'll have one last morning game drive to savor the beauty of the park, before returning to the lodge for breakfast.
Afterwards, we'll depart for Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon and you'll be dropped off at your hotel in Nairobi. Though the tour has ended, we'll still offer you a transfer to the Carnivore Restaurant for an included dinner, one final treat for your African safari.
